If the brick is actively spalling, meaning pieces are falling away, HeatShield alone isn’t enough. The coating needs sound masonry to bond to. In that case, we’d recommend a CeCure sleeve for a new flue liner inside the existing chimney, or a rebuild if the structural brick is too far gone.
